The Gift of Sanctuary.

Dear People of Trinity,

For most of this year, we all have known what not being able to worship in our Sanctuary is like as we have awaited the repair of our Truss. So, The Stewardship Team thought of no better theme than the Gift of Sanctuary for 2026. 

But Trinity has not been a Sanctuary just in the physical building sense, it has been a place of sanctuary for the City of Danville for almost 200 years. In 1833 when this building was complete, it was used as a hospital for those suffering from the Cholera Epidemic. Several years later during the Civil War, our very worship space was again used as a hospital for both union and confederate soldiers. A pew became a bed for an injured person. Our physical space became a safe safety amidst a war. And now, generations later, we continue to be a place of sanctuary in the busyness of the 21st Century- a place where beautiful music can be heard, where at least 50 people a day walk through our tremendous gardens, and where some of us are lucky to call home no matter if our physical address changes.  

But, none of this could happen without the generous support of a generation of Trinity people pledging to keep up the Mission and Ministry of this church year after year. Pledging allow us to create a budget that provides for the salaries of our staff, the maintenance of our beautiful buildings, and for the Education and Outreach out into the City of Danville and Boyle Counties. 

This year our top priority is to provide raises to our incredible staff. Cully and  Jamie are the people often behind the scenes that allow us to make sure the bulletins are printed and there is music for us to enjoy on Sunday. So join me in making a pledge to continue offering the Gift of Sanctuary for 2026.
