Serving in Worship
Members of the parish actively assist during services.
Acolytes are trained to assist at the altar during worship. They often carry the processional cross (crucifer), torches, and the Gospel book.
Ushers welcome the congregation at the doors before services, give out the order of service, attend to the needs of those who need assistance, count the number present, collect and present the offering, and generally help maintain decorum before and during services.
Lectors and Intercessors are appointed to read the Lessons of the day and lead the Prayers of the People during worship.
Eucharistic Ministers help distribute the elements during Communion.
