Buildings and Gardens

Trinity Episcopal Church in Danville, Kentucky was one of the first churches organized in the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. Trinity Church is the oldest in-use church structure in Danville and the oldest continuously used Episcopal church building in the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington as well as the second oldest in Kentucky. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

Trinity is blessed to have beautiful historic downtown buildings to serve its many functions. The People’s Warden heads the Building and Grounds Committee for the purpose of addressing the upkeep and improvement of the building and to maintain the safety and aesthetics of the church building at a high level.  The goal is to maintain a building that facilitates the worship, educational and community activities of the parish.

Our building is one of the oldest buildings in downtown Danville, Ky.  Throughout the church, there are a variety of memorials, including beautiful stained glass.  These memorials honor former parishioners and loved ones.  If you are interested in making a memorial gift or would like to consider remembering Trinity Church in your estate planning, please speak to the Rector or the Rector’s Warden.

A Facilities Usage plan is available from the Rector or Rector’s Warden for groups or parishioners interested in utilizing either the church, as in the case of weddings, or the parish hall to ensure that we keep our historic buildings well cared for and clean.

The gardens which grace the front and side of the building are maintained by the Garden Committee, composed of parishioners with a love of God’s nature and a green thumb.  This group works to clear gardens of leaves, weeds and trash, as well as plant new material as needed.  The side garden includes historical markers and gravestones.  All with a love of nature and a helping hand are invited to volunteer by contacting the office.
