Christian Formation

Nursery

While many children attend services with their families, childcare is provided for all interested parents during Christian Formation classes, for the 10:30 service and most major activities such as the Annual Parish meeting.  A paid attendant is on duty, with occasional assistance from young people from the parish.  All children are invited to join their families for communion at the altar rail and many parents choose to bring them into the service at this time.

Christian Education

Children’s education classes are divided by age group and meet on Sunday mornings at 9:30 during the school calendar year.  Younger children, ages 4-6, participate in Godly Play.  The remaining children and youth are broken into two groups, elementary age and then middle and high school youth.  These classes often focus on bible stories that offer important spiritual lessons.  Classes have also done studies on other faiths.  The middle and high school youth classes have also used the internet and movies to prompt relevant discussion.  Curriculum used often comes from National Church resources.  Classes have also planned service projects like a bake sale for Haiti and clean up at a local wildlife refuge.

Adult Education

Opportunities for adults to share and grow in faith through education include Adult Education classes on Sunday mornings.  Topics vary and are led by the rector and parishioners alike.  Participants from the faith community at large are sometimes invited to lead a special series or book discussion, especially during church seasons such as Lent or Advent.

Vacation Bible School

Early each summer, Trinity Church partners with the Presbyterian Church of Danville to offer a Vacation Bible School program for children of all ages 3-6th grades.  In recent years, this collaborative project has taken place during evening hours to allow all interested folks to participate and volunteer.  Teachers, volunteers and coordinators are provided by both churches during the planning and implementation of VBS.  We delight in this ecumenical endeavor and work to share our faith with all the local community.
