The Vestry and Columbarium committee want to keep the congregation informed and up-to-date on the progress of the new columbarium.
Earlier this year the Vestry accepted a recommendation from the Columbarium committee to build a columbarium for the internment of ashes in the church yard, provided there was enough interest among the congregation. The recommendation was to purchase a structure to hold 24 niches from a firm in Austin TX called Architarium. Architarium would provide the stainless steel niche unit and the design for a masonry structure to hold the niches to be built by the church. Fifteen of 24 available spaces were pre-sold and a contract was signed with Architarium in May . Our goal is to have the columbarium installed and ready for use by the end of 2015.
Before the new columbarium can be built we need to repair the west wall of Trinity house. Once those repairs are complete, our plan is to construct a new brick wall next to the Trinity house wall just to the north of the existing brick patio. The existing tombstone will be relocated north about 15 feet. The existing brick patio will be expanded to incorporate the space between the sidewalk and the columbarium. Some of the existing boxwoods will have to be removed, but disruption to the landscaping will be kept to a minimum.
Thanks for your support and interest.
